205 Serial Killer Names - A Hallowe'en Gift From Glyphjockey

linkpic

Having listened to John Hodgman's 700 Hobo Names a dozen times, this concept appeared in my mind just prior to Hallowe'en.

While millions of hoboes ruled the Earth, serial killers are confined to the shadows, if you will, and so the inventory of names is not quite as robust, yielding 205, rather than 700.

Regardless, please allow the names to cascade over your cortex for maximum Hallowe'eny effect.

Text of the names HERE

When does it end!?!?!?

Never!

I think many of us can agree fully with Bill and Zippy.

Hallowe'en: The Skeezix & The Skuddlemagoon

Link HERE and at the picture just below:

1927 reprint of a 1919 volume of Uncle Wiggily's Apple Roast by Howard R. Garis (who was also Victor Appleton!)

The picture below is a link to a Skuddlemagoon wallpaper:

The illustrations by Lang Campbell are sumptuous. I scanned big in order to appreciate the line work. The bad guys are vile.... and stupid!

There's some more examples of Garis' work here (with illustrations!)

Moblog Atlantic City

AC is shite. Everyone loves it tho. It's a big, overt, low, existential nightmare of misery diguised as happiness. Ecch. The weird thing is that perfectly nice people Loooooove it- people YOU like! I just don't get it! So as commentary, please enjoy the pix of horrid bay motels on the way out of town....

Hallowe'en Heave

Hush hush, sweet Charlotte
Charlotte, don't you cry
Hush hush, sweet Charlotte
He'll love you till he dies
Oh, hold him darling
Please hold him tight
And brush the tear from your eye
You weep because you had a dream last night
You dreamed that he said goodbye
He held two roses within his hand
Two roses he gave to you
The red rose tells you of his passion
The white rose his love so true
(Chorus)
And every night after he shall die
Yes every night when he's gone
The wind will sing you this lullaby
Sweet Charlotte was loved by John

Lost EP Treat: Donovan's Barabajagal by The Love In

A hit EP from the UK in 1991 - back when the Scots were still neck deep in vinyl. There were long and comprehensive notes about the players and the EP's significance in Melody Maker the week it came out, but.... who remembers? Still I love this rendition......

A Complete Nancy Comic

From cover gag to Daisy rifle ad.
Each image links to a larger one in a new window.
Shot with a "no smooshing" camera & tripod.

One comment: Bushmiller's addiction to jamming jokes without regard to narrative is richly apparent.

Enjoy.

The Highwayman - Bloody Good!

Note: I'm not crazy about poetry unless it's hyper-violent & from the first decade of the 20th century.

The Highwayman
By Alfred Noyes
FULL TEXT HERE AND AT IMAGE

Here's a huge spoiler tho:
VII
Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him-with her death.

A Percy Puss-centric Little Roquefort w/Hot (Cold) Rods

Another Little Roquefort comic tale here & at the pic below:

I'm going to finish off this comic soon - it's nearly desytroyed:

and headed for the recycle bin owing to the fact that it cannot be handled and that some nerdlinger completist somewhere has it archived.

I've also whipped up a Percy Puss/Hot Rod Wallpaper:
