Debra Paget's First Dance for Fritz Lang

Two years ago or so Debra Paget's dance from Das Indische Grabmal (The Indian Tomb) was on a bunch of sites owing to her "artificially nude" appearance juxtaposed over Fritz Lang's exotic and tense mise en scene. It looked cool. This clip:

is not dissimilar and it's from the first film of his Indian Epic Trilogy - Der Tiger Von Eschnapur. The set is pretty spectacular as is Paget's gusto towards getting the performance maximized. A great lepers-that-look-like-zombies scene shortly follows in the film.

Santiago de Sangre

Francisco Calvelo sent me a link to his new short Santiago de Sangre or, Vampire Prison

While I have embedded it below, it's site, with links to other films from his group is here.

As Hillbilly Joe would say, "Them Spaniards, they're always cuttin' eyeballs!"

Production values are very good, the Spanish culture is used to good effect, and it's damn creepy at times. Enjoy.

Not from Indochine, of course, as this stamp that was a gift to me shows. But you get the idea.

Moblog: Whatat the hell is this thing?!?!

*kaff* *kaff*

Moblog: Urinals

Kudos to the folks at Dark Horse for allowing my unbridled stream of conciousness chattering to engender this post idea. By the way ladies. this is where we men do our #1s.

Moblog: Terrorist Fist Bump w/ Art Spiegelman

Art reflected on the dialogue timeline after his New Yorker TFB cover came out. We both agreed folks should not go back to sleep for the next 4 years (or more. if change actually is manifested.....hope n'all.....)

Obamicon me

Obamiconme: stupid yet deeply participatory and often creative fun, based on the Obama poster done by Shepard Fairey, the now celebrated outsider artist. Here's two of mine, the one I did the other day was me doing it on my own.

Google Earth and the Prado

Bearded Roman points to this cool new thing on Google Earth: about a dozen masterpieces from the Prado in extreme HiRes... it's cool.

Milestones: Oh by the way.........

Sunday was my wedding anniversary and Jan. 5 was GlyphJockey's 3rd birthday.

Tom O'Horgan R.I.P.

I was lucky enough to see Jesus Christ Superstar and Lenny on Broadway. Both were amazing, and he opened up the theatre for wilder stage design and freedom of style.

WD Zantzinger Gets His At Last

Hattie Carroll

NYT Obit
Bob Dylan's song The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll was based on his arrest for murder and conviction of manslaughter. Interesting sad story of racism. Great song.

Son killing as bluff-

The mass killing of those who failed to toe the line, or as god looked at it a "do over":

Infanticide based poker style conflict resolution:

The creation of countless widows and orphans:

New Year-

Back 2 work

Hawai'ian Shirt Collection

Alfred Shaheen - the Henry Ford of the Hawai'ian shirt has surfed into the sunset for the last time.

So, related to that, lemme say, OK - anything is, literally. on line.

Here's an individual that sold vintage clothing and decided to document the Hawai'ian shirts that accumulated and eventually became a collection and wardrobe. Bravo.

So - is the photography perfect - damn close. Could the images be bigger? Yes. Is it cool anyway? Not to some. Should you look? Up to you. Do I wish I was in Hawaii? Yes.
