Black History Album has a nice collection (albeit small size) of classic era movie posters starring, directed by, and often produced by African Americans, with many by Oscar Micheaux. I wanna see 'em!

The Routers: A Serendipitous eBay Mistake
I was looking for an inexpensive wireless N router and got this high up in the results:
The Routers - never heard of 'em - but that's 'cause it looks like something my Uncle Rudy would've offered to put on the HiFi for me because it was Rock n' Roll, while I waited for him to leave so I could get at his Playboy collection (why were a naked man and woman in bed in that cartoon?). Who knew - industrialized session men music produced for the bargain bin of the sundries aisle of the grocery.... Background music at a teen party in any number of U.S. sitcoms.... In addition they invented, and I quote: "clap clap clapclapclap clapclapclapclap let's go!" hence the cheerleaders on the cover of their third album pictured above which featured one of their hits, Stingray, presented below along with the clap-happy Let's Go.
They briefly featured Leon Russell, who presumably ruined that experience like he did everywhere else he went. Black Cat Rockabilly Europe has a pretty good history and The Routers even have a Wikipedia page, too.

June Blair
I started to watch The Rabbit Trap recently (had to stop - too much like life) and was confounded by who played Judy, the kind-hearted secretary. She has this permanently serene countenance, and I couldn't put that vibe with the whoshewas thing. But it was eatin' at me.
It turns out it was June Blair, who later married the recently departed David Nelson, who, it turns out, was no slob because he got himself a Playboy Playmate of the Month! (January 1957) So, since it bugged the crap out of me, this post, to exorcise the brain imprinting.
The internet being what it is,if you follow the links above and here and here you can know more than you ever wanted to about good ol' June Blair,, unless you were an avid Ozzie and Harriet fan.

Micheangelo Pistoletto in Philadelphia
So, Michelangelo Pistoletto. I had no idea what to expect. I had heard my wife's recounting of a review in our local paper, Today's Sunbeam, but aside form that I just knew something interesting was going to be at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I won't attempt to play art critic, but I was knocked out by the installation. His Wikipedia entry states: "His work mainly deals with the subject matter of reflection and the unification of art and everyday life in terms of a Gesamtkunstwerk." and it's the whole immersion effect from that gesamtkunstwerk (if you read that entry) that grabs you. There's a lot of .... Italian 60's zeitgeisty vibe. I felt like I was in early Fellini or Antonioni Land, yet any of the works could've been considered contemporary (maybe because art is dead?). Polished steel mirrors with either silkscreened or painted-on-tissue then applied images, and assemblages that were just overwhelming in how they captured domestic vs. of-the-outside-world existence. All of it was gut level - no emperor's clothes or intellectually abstruse concept puzzles. It was just - wow. If he shows up in your city - go.

Wivenhoe Dam
Queensland. Sent by a fellow industry colleague. Quote: "This is a great photo of Wivenhoe Dam at 197% Capacity. How close were we??? This is what that 60cm to oblivion looked like." 50 km wall holding back a massive 75 foot deep/23 mile long lake.

Let's Live for Today! Yeah!
Oh,. I finally get it - the Grass Roots. And hey! Jimmy Durante! Met him when I was 10. The reason I'm posting this, though, is that the stripey shirted lad is Creed Bratton of The Office. I know you all know this already, but indulge me anyway. Or, live for today, if you will.
