Cycling 2012 - Mile 1100 - Escena del accidente mortal

New rule - it's getting a little too difficult to strategically land on an exact mile multiple of 100, and have it be something photo-worthy. Now I'm gonna use photos from a multiple of 100 ride, not the exact mile. These photos, which were available at both 1085 miles and 1098 miles are the death spot of the unfortunate Mr. Cornelio Hernandez, who was driving containers of delicious NJ peaches downhill where he lost control, hit the bridge at Oldman's Creek and was crushed to death. His co-workers and possibly family have shown great care -
For the record, and to lift the mood here's exactly at mile 1100:

Flip the Frog Killed at YouTube

Got a takedown notice for my video Flip the Frog in Killin' Frog Blues, where I took an old Ub Iwerks Flip cartoon and mashed it up with Howlin' Wolf's "Killin' Floor" who did the song in '64 and died in '76.

What I don't understand is this:

Howlin' Wolf never lost a dime via this video. He's deceased. Only accountants and attorneys stand to profit. (I've made 11 dollars blogging, by the way!)

Doesn't this type of video, with tens of thousands of views, send people to find out more about and possibly purchase Howlin' Wolf music?

Why do like, 75 full songs (I didn't even use the whole song!!) of Howlin' Wolf still exist on YouTube? Why are they OK and this is not?

Geffen records, which is owned by Universal music, who to my memory was the first company to say "If you're using Universal Music in a YouTube video - it's cool with us - we get it." What gives with that?

Look, it was funny lighthearted and trod softly upon our culture - but somebody felt that this- and not, the other 75 videos of Howlin' Wolf, had to go !

What do they want, like 20 bucks? That's more than an album's price and I'm willing to pay! I have not made nor ever intended to make penny one - so- how's about we call it $20.00. ye who reap the profit of the deceased (who I think would like this vid, by the way)

Weird Fact O' The Day

When he was Texas governor, W signed 153 death warrants. 153 people were executed- like black flag on bugs. A Canadian citizen, a Mexican citizen, some Gulf War veterans, two women, and a couple with diminished or compromised mental ability in the one-hundred-and-fifty-three that were executed.

He commuted one:

Henry Lee Lucas.
The cops knew he killed his momma, his wife, and a 3rd woman, even if he did lie about his hundred-some-odd serial killer activities, some of which law enforcement believe he committed anyway.
Go figure, huh? I toldja it was the weird fact o' the day......

Just weird, I dunno-

My Skull-A-Day Contest Entry

This is my winning (I'll readily admit based on timeliness and not skill or aesthetics) entry at Skull-A-Day's Mr. Squareheadskull contest. I used an image from the 1488 Heidelberger Totentanz gleaned from a post at PK's nearly always fascinating Bibliodyssey

I like it, I think it's the best, but then, what the hell else am I gonna say ?!?!?! I've got a giant ego !

Yarr Like a Yarr Day or, Talk Like a Pirate Day

"There were still remaining some few prisoners who were not wounded. These were asked by L'Ollonais if any more Spaniards did lie farther on in ambuscade? To whom they answered, there were. Then he commanded them to be brought before him, one by one, and asked if there was no other way to be found to the town but that? This he did out of a design to excuse, if possible, those ambuscades. But they all constantly answered him, they knew none. Having asked them all, and finding they could show him no other way, L'Ollonais grew outrageously passionate; insomuch that he drew his cutlass, and with it cut open the breast of one of those poor Spaniards, and pulling out his heart with his sacrilegious hands, began to bite and gnaw it with his teeth, like a ravenous wolf, saying to the rest: I will serve you all alike, if you show me not another way."

Circleville Ohio Cemetery

Passing by - had to stop. The uncomfortableness Timmy had about walking through cemeteries has finally passed - 20 years after his death. Good 19th century sculpture, plus modern zing. Looky. Link @ pic
